Indian auto components group Samvardhana Motherson announced it is buying the assets of insolvent German plastics car parts producer Scherer & Trier (S & T). The €36m acquisition will further consolidate “the polymer business of Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd. (MSSL) in Europe and North America”, it said.

Automotive parts supplier Faurecia is to open a new production facility in the Ostroveni industrial zone, close to the city of Râmnicu Vâlcea in Romania’s central part, reports local news site Economica.net. Dumitru Cornoiu, the head of the country’s Valcea county, said that the firm is aiming to create as many as 1,500 new jobs at the plant which will make various car parts.

Preh, the German-based supplier of injection moulded electronic controls to automotive companies, has completed the large-scale expansion of its production facilities in Monterrey, Mexico. The company has expanded its Kalos site by 5,000 square metres to 13,300 square metres and started operations in the extension on 20 November. Along with the Avante sister plant, which spans an area of 7,500 square metres, Preh now has a total of 20,800 square metres of production space in Monterrey.
