Johnson Electric is aiming to take on as many as 2,400 new workers at its production facility in Nis, Serbia, the country’s government said in a statement. Serbia’s Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic, Mayor of Nis Zoran Perisic and senior company representatives have signed a memorandum of understanding on the project. The investment is estimated to be worth some €50m. 28 July 2015

Bolstered by strong results for the first half of 2015 and a surge in new orders from automotive customers, Plastic Omnium has said it now expects to reach a €7bn sales target in 2017 rather than 2018 as it previously announced. The group said its six-month sales growth was driven by Europe where its sales rose 6.9% at constant exchange rates.  23 July 2015

Yanfeng Automotive Interiors, the China-based joint venture created to take over Johnson Controls’s auto interior unit, will build a $55m (€50m) factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee, US to supply components to Volkswagen’s nearby assembly plant. 17 July 2015

Nylon 6 specialist Domo Chemicals of Leuna, Germany, acquired resin compounder and formulator Technical Polymers of Buford, Georgia, US, on June 30. The move to establish a significant US foothold represents Domo’s second major 2015 initiative. In May, Domo said it plans to invest in a state-of-the-art nylon compounding plant at the company’s Jiaxing site in Zhejiang province, China. 14 July 2015

Hungary-based ContiTech Fluid, an automotive supplier of rubber parts and plastic thermal pipes and connectors, is planning to invest some €12m at its production facility in Makó, in the country’s south-eastern part, reports local news site Autopro.hu. 9 July 2015
