Germany head-quartered company Buse Gastek has announced it is merging its business divisions for CO2 production, recovery plant construction and dry ice technology with the Swiss company Asco Carbon Dioxide. 5 September 2014
Switzerland-based Ineos Compounds and Swindon, UK-based Doeflex Compounding have completed the merger of their respective compounding operations. Proposals to combine the two operations were first revealed in May this year. 5 September 2014
Brussels-based chemical company Solvay has announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Ryton PPS (polyphenylene sulphide) business from US-based Chevron Phillips Chemical Company for $220m (€167.3m). Ryton PPS is strong in the automotive sector, replacing metal parts to make cars lighter and more energy efficient, says Solvay. 4 September 2014
Akron, Ohio, US-based A. Schulman, a supplier of high-performance plastic compounds and resins, said it has acquired a company near Melbourne, Australia, for $6.7m (€5.1m) in cash. The acquired company, Compco, makes plastic compounds and products including cross-linked high density polyethylene, masterbatches and custom performance colours. 3 September 2014
Belgium-based PET preform and bottle manufacturer, Resilux, has announced that its turnover decreased for the first half of 2014 by 3.3% to €147.7m from €152.8m for the same period in 2013. 2 September 2014
Borealis, the Austria-based chemicals group, today confirmed its acquisition of Specialty Polymers Antwerp, a joint venture with chemical giant DuPont. 2 September 2014
Italy-based Megadyne group is in the process of adding another major component to its growing network. In a move aimed at building its specialty belting manufacturing and fabrication operations, Jason Industrial will purchase Belt Corp. of America from owner Bill Levensalor and his wife Maureen.  27 August 2014
Ineos has moved into UK shale exploration with the purchase of BG Group’s 51% share of the shale section of a joint Petroleum Exploration and Development Licence (PEDL). The remaining 49% is owned by exploration company Dart Energy. No figures were disclosed. 19 August 2014
Swedish appliance conglomerate AB Electrolux has confirmed it is one of the suitors for a possible acquisition of GE Appliances.

A Central European company is cashing in on today’s renewed global fashion for collecting vinyl music records. Disc and packaging manufacturer GZ Media a.s. of LodÄ›nice in the Czech Republic broke its own production record last year managing to press more than 10 million vinyl discs during 2013. 14 August 2014
Procter & Gamble plans to divest, discontinue or merge more than half of its brands globally as it restructures to focus on its top 70 to 80 brands, Chairman-CEO A.G. Lafley said on the company’s earnings conference call on 4 August. 5 August 2014
UK Business Secretary Vince Cable yesterday praised the progress being made by moulder and processor Rosti and called for more to be done to attract investment from overseas to help more domestic firms take advantage of the recovering economy. 30 July 2014
Belgium-based flooring company Beaulieu International Group will build a manufacturing plant in Cartersville, Georgia, giving the business its first US headquarters in a state where vinyl tile, rugs and carpeting are part of a rebounding economy. 16 July 2014
Two Polish plastics manufacturers are planning to launch their production facilities in Poland’s Tarnobrzeska special economic zone (TSSE). The investments will be worth at least 36m (€8.7m), the zone said in a statement. 10 June 2014
