Ningbo, China-based injection press manufacturer Haitian International Holdings reported record sales of 7.6bn yuan (€1.14bn) and profit of  2.5bn yuan (€376m) for 2014. Unit sales declined slightly, down 1.2% to 26,839 machines in 2014. But the average selling price was up a sharp 6.6% to 276,000 yuan (€41,000). 31 March 2015

German plastic parts maker Mecalit is aiming to expand its production facility in Łódź, in Poland’s central part. Under the plan, the manufacturer will invest at least 12m zloty (€2.9m) and increase the factory’s workforce by some 20 employees. 27 March 2015
Arburg kicked off its NPE 2015 with details about its new US headquarters offices in Connecticut, as the German injection press builder begins to sell its Freeformer 3D printer in the United States. Arburg is running two Freeformers at NPE. 27 March 2015
Contract manufacturing giant Flextronics International is officially launching Precision Plastics, a global injection tooling and manufacturing unit, as a part of its High Reliability Solutions business segment. The program, making its debut at NPE 2015, comprises four mould makers and three moulding operations that Flextronics has acquired over the past 18 months. Officials say the move allows diversification but is also complementary to the market segments in which it currently operates, such as medical devices. 27 March 2015

German organiser PE Schall has reported that the Fakuma show in October is already sold out. The Friedrichshafen event on 13-17 October will feature more than 1,700 exhibitors. Fakuma project manager Annemarie Lipp said: “Fakuma has been entirely booked out since the end of February: all available halls and ancillary floor space at the Friedrichshafen Exhibition Centre are once again fully occupied." 26 March 2015
Automotive injection moulder Mecaplast increased turnover by 4% to €679m in 2014, as it reaped the benefits from a strategic programme that started in 2013. There was also a 22% improvement in Ebitda to €47.1m (excluding non-recurring items) at the group, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2015. The group is downsizing in Monaco, but expanding internationally. 26 March 2015
Stressing the “Next Big Thing” and “Your Free Choice in Robots,” Sepro America is at NPE 2015 showing three new lines of robots for injection moulding machines in the 800- to 5,000-ton clamping range. 26 March 2015

German plastics manufacturer Accomplast has unveiled plans to set up a production facility in Prilep, in Macedonia’s southern part, the country’s government said in a statement. 25 March 2015
At the start of this year, plastics processors looked set to enjoy a period of lower polymer prices, as the sharp fall in crude oil prices dragged down the cost of key feedstocks. Prices have since risen again. Nonetheless, Faurecia, the French automotive Tier One supplier, says it sees a cost-saving opportunity in the polymer market.  24 March 2015
The Italian plastics and rubber machinery industry saw improvement in 2014, according to trade association Assocomaplast, which released annual figures in a statement headed “The sector is healthy: signs all positive in 2014”. The value of production for Italian plastics and rubber machinery, equipment and moulds improved by 2.6% from €3.90bn in 2013 to €4.00bn in 2014, according to estimates based on information from the group’s member companies. One-third of member companies are optimistic about 2015. 23 March 2015
