German toy producer Märklin has completed its project to increase the output capacity of its plant in Győr, in Hungary’s western part, reported local news site Presseportal.de. The manufacturer invested some €9.4m in expanding and upgrading the production facility, which makes model trains with the use of various plastics. 9 October 2014

Robert Bosch is set to pay €3bn and take full control of Bosch und Siemens Hausgeräte (BSH), its joint venture with Siemens which is Europe’s largest manufacturer of appliances, including washing machines, refrigerators, ovens and vacuum cleaners. BSH is a significant producer of plastic components for its products and it operates 41 factories in 13 countries in Europe, the US, Latin America and Asia. 26 September 2014
The successful launch of the Under the Hood conference this week is the start of a season of automotive plastics innovation events organised by European Plastics News. High level speakers at the Frankfurt conference from Renault, Ford and Mann + Hummel discussed the rapidly growing market for plastics in the engine compartment, fluid systems and other demanding applications. The programme attracted delegates from leading car companies, including Nissan, Porsche, VW and Jaguar LandRover, while plastic component and system suppliers who attended included Röchling, ContiTech, Calsonic Kansei and Nifco. 24 September 2014
German hot runner manufacturer Ewikon is forming a private-label partnership with Gammaflux, Ewikon announced at a Technology Day held 23 September at its Rockford, US technical centre. 24 September 2014
European plastics car component producer Boryszew has signed a letter of intent to cooperate with the Japanese investment and trading conglomerate Mitsui & Co in developing lightweight automotive parts. This follows an earlier Boryszew deal in June when it purchased an 80% stake in Tensho Poland Corp, a plastics component moulder partly owned by Mitsui Group. 22 September 2014
