US contact lens manufacturer CooperVision is preparing to invest almost €36.5m to expand its newly acquired production plant at Gyál close to the Hungarian capital Budapest. A matter of months after the Pleasanton, California-based firm bought the facility as part of a €1.1bn acquisition of successful British soft lens maker Sauflon Pharmaceutical, CooperVision announced its plan to grow the plant over three years.

Greiner, the Austria-based plastic packaging and foams producer, has announced that sales in its 2014 fiscal year were 2% higher at €1.32bn. "Strategic alignment with our core competencies and expansion into new markets are our engine for growth," said CEO Axel Kühner.
