Transit packaging manufacturer Georg Utz is aiming to expand its production facility in Kąty Wrocławskie, in Poland’s south-western part. The project will be carried out by local construction company Awbud SA, the latter firm said in a statement.

Polish packaging maker Invento has unveiled plans to open a new production facility in Gryfino, in the country’s north-western part. The project is estimated to be worth some PLN 50m (€12m), reports local news site Plastech.pl.

Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics is working with a Chinese firm to debut Dow’s PacXpert flexible packaging technology in the Chinese market. Dow signed a licensing agreement with Hunan China Sun Pharmaceutical Machinery on 18 August in Shanghai, under which China Sun will introduce PacXpert to its broad customer base in Greater China.

Swiss packaging group Stäger & Co. has extended its product range and manufacturing spread with its acquisition of Czech thermoformer Inovac. The purchase, for an undisclosed sum, sees Inovac based in Rokycany, western Czech Republic, renamed Stäger Inovac Packaging under its new parent company.

In a new study, German research group Ceresana expects the European plastics market to grow as plastics continue to replace materials such as aluminium, tin plate and glass. After reaching a volume of more than 53 million tonnes in 2014, Ceresana is forecasting revenues in the European plastics market to rise at an average rate of 2.9% p.a to hit €104bn in 2022 .
