Historical prices

Polymer prices fell last month as demand was below the level normally expected for the beginning of springtime. 3 May 2013
Engineering thermoplastic prices either softened or remained stable during Q1 2013 as producer margins came under pressure from high feedstock costs. Sharp price reductions for POM and PMMA, PA, PC and ABS down a little with PBT unchanged. 3 May 2013
Polymer prices remained at high levels and end-use demand was weak in March 4 April 2013
Buyers of standard thermoplastics last month once again refused to accept suppliers’ calls for sharply higher prices. Polymer producers, citing a need to improve margins, tabled planned price increases that were far ahead of the movement in feedstock costs. Indeed raw material contract prices for February were barely changed from January levels 6 March 2013
Buyers of standard thermoplastics strongly resisted attempts by producers to hike prices in January, although prices for most materials rose slightly 1 February 2013
Engineering thermoplastics prices see limited movement during Q4 as feedstock costs either remain stable or edge lower. ABS and PA prices slip due to lower costs and subdued sales. Higher end PMMA and POM prices also down. PC and PBT largely remain unchanged. 1 February 2013
In the last month of 2012 supply was under control and demand was not as bad as expected, meaning thermoplastic prices remained steady 4 January 2013
Most classes of standard thermoplastics saw prices slip back for the second month in a row in November despite producers' targeting price increases 3 December 2012
Polymer prices stabilised at the beginning of the fourth quarter following triple-digit increases in each of the previous two months 7 November 2012
Producer plans to raise prices to cover rising costs during Q3 were restrained by weaker demand and better availability. A rise for ABS after increase in feedstock costs; PMMA also higher; polyamides softer as automotive sales tumble; PC, POM and PBT are largely unchanged 7 November 2012
A German plastics packaging trade body is calling for co-operation that would lead to polymer producers adhering to a stricter legal use of force majeure clauses in their supply contracts. 9 October 2012
Buyers of standard thermoplastics faced calls for triple-digit price rises for the second month in a row in September. Polymer producers reacted to another sharp increase in feedstock costs by calling for significant price hikes, not only to cover their higher cost base, but also to allow margin improvement. With production cutbacks, further plant outages and a lack of imported material putting a lid on supply, buyers who needed additional stock had no choice but to pay hefty price increases 3 October 2012
Following three months of sharply falling notations, European standard thermoplastic prices took a steep upward climb last month 3 September 2012
Producers pushed for higher prices in Q2 to cover previous cost hikes. Polycarbonates rose sharply supported by firm phenol and benzene costs. PA66 and PBT also registered strong gains. POM and PMMA prices had modest rises. PA66 and ABS down as feedstock tumbles 3 September 2012
European polyolefin buyers enjoyed long awaited relief in June as feedstock costs and prices tumbled from the lofty heights of recent months 11 July 2012
