The new Delrin material from DuPont

Chemical giant DuPont launched a new grade of Delrin – SC699 – at the Pharmapack exhibition in Paris in France, last week.

Spokesperson Rémi Daneyrole says SC699 has the same medical properties as other grades of Delrin but has very low friction performance. The grade is used by Ypsomed to make the UnoPen disposable injector pen.

“The grade is low friction which is important because it means the device is easy to operate,” Daneyrole told European Plastics News. “It’s also important because the dose of the medication must be very precise.”

Delrin SC699 is ideal for parts that require high precision moulding in the healthcare sector and is suitable for laser marking.
