Auxiliary equipment supplier Conair has designed a new range of flood-cooling tanks especially for medical tubing manufacturers.
The company says the MedVac tanks comprise features that will help manufacturers control process variables, which is very important in creating medical products.
“This new tank not only gives them control of their process, so that they can make higher quality tubing, it also gives them set-up and operation features that make their process more efficient,” says product manager Bob Bessemer.
Bessemer says manufacturers will have more vacuum control thanks to the Precision Automatic Vacuum Control (PAVC), which works like the volume controls on a digital radio. It can be adjusted in fine increments (0.1 inch of H2O) or coarse increments (1.0 inch of H20).
The tank is also designed for easy cleaning. The guide rollers can be removed for easy access to the tank, the overflow tray consists of just one piece of stainless steel, so there are no seams between components, and the optional pre-skinning chamber is made of polyoxymethylene.
Conair has also designed the tank for easy start up and operation.
“We talked to a lot of medical extruders and they explained how difficult it can be to set up a line to produce thin tubing, some of which can be almost as thin as a human hair,” says Bessemer. “So we designed this tank so that fits comfortably with other equipment in a clean room so that operators can easily see what they are doing.”
Design improvements include a narrower tank frame, a three-axis tank alignment system with linear slides for adjustability, view ports, and a swivel-mounted control panel.
The MedVac tank comes in five models.
