Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) has teamed up with the Holst Centre to develop materials and technologies for development of flexible electronics.
Set up as an open-innovation initiative by Belgium’s IMEC research organisation and Netherlands-based TNO, the Holst Centre is aiming to bring together academic and industrial partners to jointly develop technologies for applications including flexible electronics such as organic light emitting diode (OLED) lighting and organic photovoltaics (OPV).
"We are committed to deliver improved films product solutions to our customers addressing new applications within the flexible electronics industry", said Bernd Steinhilber, senior vice president and head of functional films at BMS.
"The partnership in Holst Center is an excellent opportunity for us, bringing together competent industry in the open innovation surrounding,” he said.
Established in 2005 and located on the High Tech Campus at Eindhoven in The Netherlands, the Holst Centre employs 150 people and works with around 30 industrial partners. The organisation’s “smart foils” projects include development of generic technologies for production of wireless autonomous transducers and for in-foil electronic systems.
