Machine maker Micron says it will pull out of negative EBIT by the end of the year after recording an increase in orders of 82.2%.
For the first half of the year, the order intake totalled CHF110.2m (€82.1m). Net sales were also up – 5.7% to CHF81m (€60.3m) – thanks to a time lag due to the long processing time for orders.
Mikron has reduced its EBIT loss, which now totals CHF-0.9m, compared to CHF-18.3m for the first half of 2009.
However, the company is uncertain about the future. Although the sales and order increase is “cause for optimism”, the weakness of the euro against the Swiss franc are “grounds for caution”, says the firm.
